NANDANKANAN
Nandankanan Zoological Park, located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, is a renowned wildlife open air safari park and sanctuary sprawling over 990 acres. Established in 1960, it plays a crucial role in conserving biodiversity and shelters a wide array of animal species, including endangered ones like the Indian pangolin, white and black tiger.
The park has a nature inspired ropeway installation, across to the picturesque Kanjia Lake, connecting it to the Botanical Garden, which is recognized as a ‘Wetland of National Prominence’ by the Indian government. Visitors to the Nandankanan Ropeway delight in the serene ambiance of the lake’s shores and the scenic beauty of the lake itself.
The ropeway has a capacity to transport 400 passengers per hour and stretches over 619 meters, offering a convenient and scenic mode of transportation within the park. This installation is amongst the longest ropeways across a water body other than a river in Asia.
This innovative addition enhances the visitor experience via its breathtaking views including sighting of various migratory and domestic birds & the surrounding natural beauty of both the parks – Botanical Garden & Nandankana zoo. The ropeway project aligns with Nandankanan’s dedication to enhancing infrastructure and ensuring a pleasant and eco-friendly exploration of the park for its visitors.
